Our vision
A just, inclusive, and empowered society where every individual can realize their full potential and live with dignity, equality, and opportunity.
In practice that means a Kashmir where a child's prospects are not decided by their village, their gender, or their family's income. Where disability is met with adjustment rather than exclusion, where girls finish school because staying is normal, and where the people most affected by a decision have a say in making it. We are some distance from that society. The vision is what tells us which direction counts as forward.
Our mission
To empower children, adolescents, women, and vulnerable communities through education, health, protection, humanitarian action, and community led development initiatives.
Empowerment here is specific, not rhetorical. It means a child enrolled and still attending three years later, an adolescent confident enough to speak at a village meeting, a woman earning and deciding how that income is spent, a family that knows the law is on its side. We pursue that through long-term presence in the same communities, partnership with government departments and schools rather than parallel systems, and honest measurement of whether people's lives actually changed.
How we work
The methods behind the programmes
Community-led planning
Communities identify the problem and shape the response. Village Development Committees and local child protection committees hold real decision-making power rather than advisory status.
Inclusion by design
Programmes are built to reach the children most easily missed — girls, children with disabilities, out-of-school children, and families at the margins of existing services.
Partnership, not parallel systems
We work with government schools, health institutions and departments to strengthen what already exists, so improvements outlast any single project cycle.
Evidence before and after
Baseline and endline assessments, community surveys and learning assessments tell us what changed. Research feeds advocacy, and advocacy carries community voices into policy.
Building local capacity
Teachers, peer leaders, volunteers and community institutions are trained so that the capability to continue the work stays in the community when a programme ends.
Accountability in the open
Social accountability practices, documentation and public review keep us answerable to the communities we work with, not only to the people funding the work.
